Off and running

Dear Baby Bird,

You're working on your next skill.... which instead of walking may look more like running.

You love to run behind anything you can push, although balance is still a lesson you're working on. And if you are at one end of the couch, you will cruise along to the other end surprisingly fast.

This week there was some sad news at the Boston marathon, a place where people were running. And here's my hope for you, Baby Bird. Once you learn to run, I hope you also learn to run toward instead of away. Run toward your dreams. Run toward those you love. And run toward those who need your help and love. Don't run away from your problems, or from the stuff that seems scary and hard. Run toward life, knowing you have a lot of fans there to cheer for you and help you, even carry you sometimes.

Love,
Mom
