Standing by the stair gate and pointing up means you want someone to open the gate so you can go down
Walking to the tv and making the music sign means you want us to turn on music so you can dance
Pulling your bib off or pushing the tray away means you are done.
Resting your head on my shoulder while I rock you means you are tired and comfortable and loved.

Days Together

Dear Baby Bird,
I'm lucky to get my Mondays and Fridays off of work to spend with you. Usually we just take care of chores and errands, but sometimes we see friends, or I get motivated to take you somewhere special.

Today we went to the zoo, just me and you! You really enjoyed looking at the animals, especially when you saw a bird fly by.

There's a black bear in the cage behind us, even though you can't tell from this picture.

The bird house was your favorite, definitely.

And here's a video I took last month of what you were doing while I was putting away dishes. You sure were proud of yourself!

Alike but Different

Dear Baby Bird,
You really have your own unique personality! But every once in a while, you remind me so much of your Brother that I have to capture the moment.

Today was one of those days.
Here you are, on the first cold day of September, 14 months old

 Here's Brother, at the end of October 5 years ago, almost 14 months old. I just noticed that even your socks and shoes are the same!

 

Today was a fun Friday, you got to see garbage trucks and buses, and after your nap we're going to go to the playground and enjoy the beautiful 65 degree weather while it lasts.

You're ready for some Football!

Dear Baby Bird,

This weekend, the NFL started their season. Somehow you knew this, because you pulled this hat from Brother's collection and put it on.

But perhaps more importantly (or at least, more fun for you), today also meant the start of the Pillow League.

You had a hard time getting up when you fell down, but you sure thought it was funny.

And you loved being part of what Dad and Brother were doing.
