Dear Baby Bird,
It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since I went back to work. One of the best parts of that decision is that you've gotten to spend time with the wonderful Mrs. Angie.
You love going to her house. You get excited about the dogs and the cat, your friends, Angie's car, the snacks, the hugs, the music, the fun, the big kids. There really isn't anything there you don't like, except maybe when we make you leave.
You say a lot of words. You say Mama/Mom and Daddy/Dada, which means us, but also means any adult you see. You say Baby for yourself and any other small person. The only person in this world lucky enough so far to get their own name from you is Angie; you call her Nanny. While some people might think that sounds like the job title - nanny - I think it reminds me more of the word our friends in New Orleans use for their godmother: Nanny.
We are all so lucky to have "Nanny" Angie. And you are the luckiest of all.
Love,
Mom

I Rule
Dear Baby Bird,
Today was another cold cold day outside. We stayed in, took a day off work and off school, and enjoyed a "boy day".We played with plastic bubbles.
We sang songs and played some harmonica.
You love to sing along to one of Daddy's favorite CD's by Lorde. "I rule, I rule, I rule". You do rule! You bring the biggest smile on the coldest days.
Love,
Daddy

Janboree
Dear Baby Bird,
This weekend is the local Janboree festival. We decided to go to our favorite nature center and see what they had to offer.
We started in the planetarium, but after a few minutes of the darkness, you got antsy, so we left Brother to enjoy the show, and you and I wandered to look at the exhibits.
We decided to take a hike outside. Lucky Brother got to wear snow shoes for the first time!
We did an obstacle course, then you did the "snowball" throw.
We went inside for some cookies and hot chocolate, and you and Brother showed off your well-earned medals.
What a fun day!
Love,
Mom

Trains and Treats
Dear Baby Bird,
Today we decided to go see the train show at the Domes. When we got there, we realized there was also a Farmers' Market going on. So in addition to enjoying trains, we got to enjoy some tasty treats, too!
It was the perfect way to enjoy a snowy Saturday morning.
Love,
Mom

Polar Vortex Cold
Dear Baby Bird,
Brrrr! Today was a record cold day. Brother's school has been cancelled for two days because the wind chill is so low.
On top of the cold weather, you have also managed to catch a cold. Thankfully it's just runny nose and coughing, but you have definitely not been your usually happy self.
Since we're stuck inside (you and I haven't left the house for 5 days) I decided we should turn on the oven and use up some ripe bananas.
You enjoyed "helping" although mostly you're enjoying eating.
I love you, little man. It's been a tough few days, but I know soon we'll all be back to normal.
Love,
Mom
