Early Spring Hike

Dear Baby Bird,
Today was a rare Saturday with nothing planned. So we decided to go for a family hike.

We forgot that a lot of the forest is in the shade and still has snow, so the first part was a bit slippery.

But once we got to the open trail it was easier to walk.

You matched the trailpost!

 We came to a sand volleyball court that was as slippery as an ice skating rink. You rolled around and loved it!

 Daddy loves to bring his pocketknife on hikes, and today he used it to cut into some walnuts you found. You love to pick up treasures on hikes!

 And Brother loves to find treasures, too.

Today got me excited about the Spring weather. We went outside for a walk before bed. Even though we had on winter coats and hats, we saw robins and a rabbit, daffodils starting to sprout, and could hear birds singing from every tree. Spring is surely on its way.

These days, when you want "more" of something, you say "Mee-mo."  The word "mo" is now reserved for when you mow the lawn.

Or the sidewalk.

Pi(e) Day

Dear Baby Bird,

It's March 14 (3.14), which means we are starting to see some Spring-like weather, although we still have a lot of snow and ice to dig and play with!

I didn't get the Pie made in time for you to eat it tonight, but I know you will love it tomorrow!

Nana asked if we had recordings of your voice, and I realized we haven't made many videos yet, so we sat at the table together and talked.

A visit from Nana

Dear Baby Bird,
This weekend, your Nana came to visit! You and I drove down together to pick her up, you were a wonderful travel companion. We read books, listened to music, looked for planes and trucks and diggers.

Before bed, you got some good book reading time with Nana.

 Daddy and Brother took Nana for a French day! They went to French class, a French restaurant, and to see the play Anatole, about a mouse in Paris. I can't wait until you get to go to First Stage Plays with us... I know you are going to love them!

Nana helped me make Eggs Benedict for the first time. You loved it!

It sure was fun to have Nana here. You've been talking about her ever since we picked her up, especially about how she rides in Daddy's car. It sounds like this: "Nanny. Daddy. Brroooom Brooom." And we know exactly what you mean.
