Dear Baby Bird,
You've started to make sounds for certain things you see or hear.
You say "ffff" for fish, you always point to the sky for airplanes or birds, and pant like a dog, and for anything with wheels, you say BBBvvvrrrooooom.
Especially when we went to watch the Harley Davidson 110th anniversary parade today.
You liked watching the bikes go by, but you liked walking around even more. One group invited you to sit on their Harley. They were playing Johnny Cash music and you started dancing on the motorcycle. The crowd loved it, and so did you!
Love,
Mom

Grandma and Grandpa
Dear Baby Bird,
Today is Grandma and Grandpa's wedding anniversary.... 42 years!! Lucky for you, it's Wednesday, which is "Grandma Day." We got our hands on Grandma's camera and found photos from Grandma day over the past year (Grandma day has actually been going on since long before you were born, but that doesn't make you love it any less!). Here are some photos of the fun times you've shared.
Fun on the playmat. Grandma always brought you lots of other toys to look at and play with.
Dancing at Grandma's house (before you could stand on your own)
Finding new ways to play with things.
Fun with cars and toys.
Always so happy when you are being fed.
You guys love to go to the playground!
Grandpa doesn't get to spend quite as much time with you as Grandma's weekly gig, but you still have lots of fun when you're together. More fun with bowls as hats.
Enjoying chicken at the Men's Club BBQ.
Riding in the Burley.
Swinging
Visiting the Farmer's Market. The rain didn't stop you from having a great time in the hiking backpack!
Grandma takes you lots of fun places, even finding a sand pit at a local garden store.
And now you're old enough to push the swings, though you still love it best when she pushes you or swings next to you.
What a special Grandma you have.
And what a special couple. Happy Anniversary!
Love,
Mom

Canada Vacation - Part 2
Dear Baby Bird,
Brother and Dad were able to find a lot of photos with you. Most of the photos of you and I involve you eating and me feeding you, or you riding in the stroller and me pushing you. And most of those photos were taken from behind... Dad is always walking slow and taking photos of things while you and I explore new places. ;)
So instead of showing you the photos of us, I'm going to show you photos of the things we saw on vacation.
You were a great traveler! I wrapped anything I could think of; new toys (like the magna-doodle), old toys, even snacks. Each thing you unwrapped bought us a few more minutes of entertainment on the plane, and we even had a few to spare for long car rides.
During our stay in Quebec, we saw this fountain a lot. It was just a few blocks up (yes, I mean "Up") from our hotel. Every time we got near the fountain you would reach out and point and say "ooo" You got very mad at me the time I let you touch the water but then thought you should go back in your stroller.
Because you needed your naps or went to bed before everyone else, you and I would often leave Dad and Brother and walk back to the hotel alone. We were at this stop light almost every time, with the hill ahead of us to get back to your cozy bed.
Just across from our hotel was this plaza, where we spent the early morning hours, letting you run free while I enjoyed coffee and a chocolatine or other delicious pastry.
This cool gate led into the shopping street. You liked making echos in the small tunnel doors.
One night we saw the opening ceremonies for a Military Music Festival. You have always loved music and thought this was pretty neat.
The Chateau Frontenac was always visible from wherever we were. You always liked when the red double-decker buses drove by and would wave, usually getting someone to wave back at you.
We drove to see the Chute Montmercy, which is a waterfall taller than Niagra Falls.
You and daddy got up close to a rainbow and even got sprayed a bit.
And oh, the food! With three meals and two or three snacks a day, we got to try a lot of delicious foods. Sometimes it was even fun shopping for them, like at the Atwater Marche in Montreal. The bakery counter was amazing!
And of course the fruit! Blueberries and raspberries and strawberries, you love them all.
We even bought some chocolate madelines from the sweet shop.
One of our more memorable dinners was at the Jardin Nelson in Montreal. We ate outside under the canopy, but it started to rain really hard, so they zipped up the side panels to keep us dry. The loud rain drowned out your loud crying for food, thank goodness. We had delicious crepes, one called the Nelson with "sweet batter, homemade sweet apple stuffing, cinnamon, bacon, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, maple syrup." Like eating breakfast and dessert for dinner. We also got the Diva, with "savoury batter, emince of chicken breast, broccoli, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, poulette sauce" and the Fermiere, "savoury batter, veal sauté, pearl onions, leeks, celery, carrot, button mushrooms, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, in a white wine cream sauce."
After dinner, it was REALLY raining, and we were a 10 minute walk from our hotel and car. Daddy bravely ran to get the car and come pick us up.
Our hotel was right near the Notre Dame Cathedral, and although you were never awake to see it at night, Brother and Dad and I took turns attending the light show there, and on our last night, Dad took this amazing photo of the plaza and church.
I am so glad that you and Brother are such pleasant travelers. All my worries melted away "once we got there" and we had a wonderful trip. I can't wait for our many adventures together!
Love,
Mom
